Surgery report
Procedure - Evisceration
Performed by - Huang
Surgery time - 0 minutes

Standard sterile preparation with careful plucking of the feathers
along and adjacent to the eyelid margins performed. Stay sutures
with 5-0 ethilon placed on superior and inferior eyelid. A limbal
stab incision was made dorsotemporally with a beaver no. 65 blade
parallel to the iris. The cornea was excised 360° with Wescott
tenotomy scissors. A cyclodialysis spatula was used to bluntly
dissect the uvea from the sclera. The iris, lens, vitreous body,
retina, and uvea were then removed by using gentle blunt dissection
with a evisceration spoon and sterile cotton-tipped applicators
until only the white sclera was visible. The eyelid margins were
excised with stevens tenotomy scissor, taking care to ensure
the superior and inferior nasolacrimal puncta were intact. The
third
eyelid and conjunctival tissue were left in place. The site was
closed in 1 layer in a simple continuous pattern with 5–0 PDS.
Skin
glue 1 drop was placed on lateral canthus.
